South Carolina's Carolina Wren
#26 I found this bird within 5 minutes of arriving at Barry and Jane's house in Boiling Spring. I never saw it there again but it surely sang a lot. I found out later that it was raising a brood in a flower pot above the barbeque about 20 feet from here.
On the trip to SC I hunted Alabama on two mornings and two evenings without success and then missed also in Georgia. I was left with the quandry of returning to NM via Georgia and Alabama to try again or taking a northern route to go through Kentucky and other midwest states. An invitation on Albirders@yahoogroups.com made the decision to take the southern route easy. Still, on three more opportunities I missed Alabama.
